A technical glitch in the site handling of comments has arisen over the past several weeks. Site discussion settings are set so that regular commenters should see their replies appear immediately after submitting them, but for some reason many of them are being held for manual approval. There’s no clear pattern in this occurring, making it difficult to troubleshoot.

So if you’re a regular commenter and have submitted a comment colorably consistent with the site guidelines, and don’t see it appear right away, it’s the glitch. Please be patient. I continue to look for the cause to correct it and meanwhile check frequently for improperly flagged comments.
